Right Place - Wrong Time
Went to the Bowl last night for a concert benefitting Haiti relief - featuring Lettuce (comprised of various Soulive members), Maceo Parker, Dr. John, ?uestlove and the The London Souls. The weather was spitting pretty hard, so we were on the fence to on whether to make the trek from Manhattan to BK. With the persistant rumor that Prince was going to make a surprise appearance following his show at MSG, we figure we'd be kicking ourselves if we missed it. Glad we didn't.
Although his Purpleness never showed, it really didn't matter. Seeing Dr John and Maceo jamming together was over the top awesome. Is there a a better horn player on Earth? Also, Adam Deitch and ?uestlove on dueling drums sets was just surreal. Lost of talent makes for good music, and as a result this show lived up to the hype.

“So throw away those lamentations, we both know them all too well / If there’s a book of jubilations, we’ll have to write it for ourselves / So come and lie beside me darlin’ — let’s write it while we still got time."
Lantern - Josh Ritter
Jets Need to Pipe Down
Now we're all for self confidence. We certainly like a coach who sticks his neck out to try and take the pressure off his players. But what we can't stand is when a coach literally puts his foot in his mouth and makes egocentric statements ike "the is about me vs the other coach". News Flash - Its not.
Adding insult to injury, the players then follow their coaches rhetoric and start running their mouths. Just play the effing game! . Im sorry, but the old adage rings true "talk is cheap". Go out and win and let the haters hate. As much as I want the Jets to dominate this weekend - I respect the shit out of the way the entire Pats organization conduct themselves - top to bottom. As Mike Lupica said in his article in today's Daily News : You don't make a rivalary with good quotes." Amen

From ISS Commander Scott Kelly,( brother-in-law of Gabrielle Giffords, the U.S. Congresswoman who was shot Saturday in Arizona) , recently led a tribute to the victims, lamenting that the planet he observed wasn't a more peaceful one.
"These days, we are constantly reminded of the unspeakable acts of violence and damage we can inflict upon one another, not just with our actions but also with our irresponsible words.
We are better than this. We must do better."

Want to Announce? Better off Ted
"Spoke with a struggling sports TV and radio man, late last week. He recognizes that he has a strong voice, but he still lacks what it takes: He's never been addicted to drugs or alcohol; he's never been jailed nor even arrested; he's never stolen nor scammed anyone..... and he has publicity photos, but no mug shots... He's not as worthy as the overnight TV and radio sensation, Ted Williams .

"People love music for much the same reason they're drawn to sex, drugs, gambling and delicious food, according to new research. When you listen to tunes that move you, the study found, your brain releases dopamine, a chemical involved in both motivation and addiction.
Even just anticipating the sounds of a composition like Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" or Phish's "You Enjoy Myself" can get the feel-good chemical flowing, found the study, which was the first to make a concrete link between dopamine release and musical pleasure."
Uh....you think so doctor? Here's the link

Bring on The Pats
Heck of a win Saturday night vs the Peyton & the Colts. Couldn't believe that guy ran into the kicker giving the Jets the ball back with less than 2 min on the clock. Still, props to Sanchez and crew for driving down the field and positioning Folk for the game winning field goal
This upcoming Pats gams is going to be real fun one to watch. Lets hope the Jets actually show up this time.
