Do You Even Like MUSIC?
So I have a few friends out there who just don't seem to get the new music that is coming out today. They would rather listen to the same classic rock songs on repeat than give bands like Interpol, Iron & Wine or Arcade Fire a shot. For myself, I learned a long time ago that in order to truly enjoy music, I had to be open to all different forms of it. I don't care if its Kelly Clarkson or the Kings of Leon singing, if the song rocks, then I roll. It's really as simple as that. Now, I understand people have different tastes, and that is fine...to each his own. But as George Clinton put it best. "Free your mind and you arse will follow".
Here's some tracks from some "newer" bands that I enjoy, which upon a listen, I think you will too.
Futures & Folley's - Blitzen Trapper
Lake Michigan - Rogue Wave
Neigborhood # 2 - Arcade Fire

Two For Tuesday
So much to do - so little time. I'm leaving for a 2 1/2 week cross-country trip tommorrow, starting with a flight into Chicago at 6AM > a flight to Portland Oregon. Once there, I'm going to the Nike compound to assist on a few different events. I'm definitely excited, as I'm sure the grounds are going to be ridiculous and I'll also be able to get my holiday shopping done. After four days on the leftest coast, I fly Sunday AM down to good ol' Miami Floridaze for a week long work event. How the heck am supposed to pack for this thing??
In the spirit of all things travel, below are a few clips that embody the long road.
Travelin Light - Widespread Panic
End of the Line - Traveling Wilburys

Mule Monday
I had I had a good weekend. From the awesome turkey dinner shared with friends, to attending my 10 year high school reunion - everything was peachy keen. As one would assume, the holiday was chock full of clean berations, multiple batties, dance parties, & lots of The Dogg & Bigg Man doing "their thing". Unfortunately for those of us who bleed blue & red, things came crashing back to Earth when the NY Giants delivered one of the most miserable performances I have ever witnessed on a Sunday afternoon. Eli the franchise? Kid better get it together vs da Bears.
All in all, good time - great oldies. Now enjoy some Monday Mule. Do it

Tegan & Sara @ Webster Hall
Lets just say I was in the minority on Monday night when I attended the uber talented, sister duo Tegan & Sara. Judging by the all female line stretching down my block, I figured the sisters are kinda like the updated version of the Indigo girls (insert joke here)These chicks hail from somewhere Canada and have been creating a buzz with their stripped down punkish jamz. I've posted below a couple tracks that they rocked at the show.

Rainy Day Thursday
I just got back from Miami late last night. I met up with the Dave Jones to see a pretty cool band, Broken Social Scene @ Webster Hall (think MMJ meets Arcade Fire.) They had a really cool setup with 7 musicans onstage switching up instruments every other song.
Anyway, I have a ton of stuff to get done today, so below are a few track I listened to on my way back from FL that I like, alot.

Carousel - Iron & Wine

Comin In From the Cold
I start a new job today, & by start I mean I'm flying down Miami to do a walk-though for a Nike event @ the Art Basel Fest Dec 5-9th. There's always an nice vibe stepping off the plane and feeling that 80 degree weather hit your face. Today is also supposed to be the day the guys from Langerado announce their 08' lineup. In honor of all these happening below are a few tracks that remind me of good ol' FloriDaze.
Blue Sky's - Willie Nelson
Glamorous - Fergie
Closer to the Sun - Slightly Stoopid

Denis Leary is an "Asshole" and We Love Em
Denis Leary has been called a "chain-smoking, acid-tongued comedian", who is famously known for his angry filled stand-up routines. At last night's headlining Beacon Theatre performance, he did not disappoint. Now I've probably seen 50+ show at the Beacon, and never have I been backstage (Warren - can a brother get some love?) Last night however, I got to serve as the house photographer and was allowed roam all over the joint.
The whole thing was full of angry-man” tirades on the the evils of society (crack ,Heather Mills & Starbucks) mixed with punchy one-liners. He also had a bunch of other comedians perform who were equally as righteous. Denis closed out the show with is band the Crown Royals doing his famous "Asshole" song. It was nice
Tonight is Artie Lang. I may have to skip it cause I'm a weeeee bit comedy'ed out. ooof

Sarah Silverman is Hot and Funny
I love Sarah Silverman. Its really as simple as that. Her performance last night @ Carnegie Hall was ridiculosuly over the top with a slew of her x rated / ironic material taking center stage. "You know, I don't care if you think I'm racist. I just want you to think I'm thin."...."I was licking jelly off of my boyfriend's penis and all of a sudden I'm thinking, "Oh My God, I'm turning into my mother!"

NY Comedy Festival Kicks Off
Yesterday marked the begnning of the New York Comedy Festival. This is something I have personally been working on since March, so I was extremely excited to see things get underway. Last night Rosie O'Donnell performed at Linclon Center. I've never was a big Rosie fan, but I will say I am now a convert. She joked on range of things including her kids, lesbian following & of course some George Bush ribbing..." I mean what do you have to do to get impeached these days.....maybe just shit on the constitution...literally bend over and..." To everyone surprise she called out Rosanne Barr to do a set which was just plain raunchy. This woman actually has the foulest mouth I have ever heard. Every other word was fuck . wow
Anyway, nice way to start things off. Tonight is Sarah Silverman at Carnegie Hall. Denis Leary tommorrow at the Beacon Theatre, Artie Lang on Friday at Town Hall, Bill Maher on Saturday at the Beacon. NICE
